Mint

Mint ( पुदिना ) is a herb that has been used for for its culinary, medicinal and aromatic properties since time immemorial. In ancient times, the Greeks would rub mint onto their dining tables to welcome their guests. It's considered as an important aromatic oil even today! There's numerous varieties of mint like spearmint, peppermint and even watermint and applemint...bet you didn't know those.

Mint is a slightly strong herb and hence needs to be used sparingly. A little goes a long way.
The herb is used to make a number of chutneys and is a common flavouring to numerous preparations like Green Rice.

It reduces body heat and adds great flavour to teas and appetizers. Mint has numerous medicinal properties. It combats nausea and bacteria growth, while improving digestion and oral health. It's popularly used in gums, since it combats bad breath and yellowing of teeth.Rich in vitamins and minerals, it enhances immuity. It is anti-inflamatory and helps soften dry skin. Applying mint paste on the forehead relieves headache.
Peppermint is a natural insect repelent. While visiting the outdoors, a drop of peppermint oil added to your moisturisers will keep insects at bay, although I recomend you check for allergies before using this home remedy. All in all its pretty useful.
